Bay City, OR to Lincoln City, OR

51 Miles

Cold and Foggy again.  Short mileage today, I only made it to Lincoln City.  Left Bay City early and rolled through Tillamook too early to tour the Cheese Factory, darn.  Came across a couple fixing a chain just before reaching Pacific City.  They were just biking the Oregon Coast and figured they would be done in about 6 days.  I got the impression they hadn’t toured together before…I wonder if they will still be dating by the time they finish.  Even though the weather was crappy their was still plenty of traffic.  The combination of the two meant I wasn’t motivated to take too many pictures. Only one photo, in fact.

Simon Says...scuttle the ship

I am having a good time, but would like to see a sunny coastline too. Guess I’ll have to wait until California.  I had one tough climb just before reaching Lincoln City  It was about 2.3 miles to the top and it took me at least 30 minutes.  Climbed up to 704 feet over Cascade Head.  No viewpoint to reward me for all my hard work but at least the shoulders were non-existent and there were lots of blind corners and big RV’s and logging trucks.  After that it was a quick descent into Lincoln City.  Just like Cannon Beach it was stop and go for the tourists starting a few miles even before entering town.  I ended up passing all the cars that had passed me on the climb.  Ha, Ha (<- Derisive laughter)
