Short Day, Short Post

Day 8

August 17th 2008

27.0 Miles

Even though I had good intentions, today I wimped out and only biked 27 miles, the distance from Lincoln City to Newport. This weather is getting me down. another grey and foggy day along the coast. Made worse by the occasional rain shower and thunder storm. And to top it all off, the weekend tourists who made the biking less than fun on Friday and Saturday, are now leaving the coast and heading back to their dreary jobs. Again making the riding less than fun.

I did get some nice photo ops during my short time on the bike. Depoe Bay is a nice little town that claims to have the world smallest harbor, and Otter Crest Loop was a fantastic alternate to 101. My pictures don’t do it justice.

After struggling in the cold and wet for 27 miles I reached Newport and decided to stay. It turned out to be a good decision as rain and thunder showers passed through the region all day long.
